MARTA ALICIA MASFERRER
Marta Masferrer is a Cuban-American director who has directed, produced and/or written numerous short films and web featurettes while completing her MFA in Film Directing at Columbia University. In recent years she worked as a Development Assistant for Richard Linklater's production company Detour Films and as a director, producer, and/or editor within the broadcast and digital landscape. Some of her narrative award-winning work includes CONLANG (Best Narrative Short at Sidewalk Moving Image Film Festival and Honorable Mention at the Boston Sci-Fi Film Festival), BAD BEHAVIOR (Cinequest Viewer's Choice Award), and HERE COMES THE BRIDE (First Prize in a Harley Davidson National Competition). She is an alumnus of the NALIP Latino Producers Academy and Writer's Lab, a graduate of the UCLA Professional Screenwriters program, an AIVF Screenwriting Fellow, an IFP New York Project Involve Honoree and an alumni of the Berlinale Talent Campus. ASTERNAUTS was a finalist for the Berlin Today Award at the Berlinale 2011.
Masferrer has over 10 years of experience in multi-platform content creation; producing both digital and broadcast content for clients such as MTV/Viacom (Nick Jr., NOGGIN and The N), PBS, Frog Design, PBS, TED Talks, SONY Entertainment, ANIMAX, WNBC’s Weekend Today Show, NYC TV, and MoveOn.org, among others. Most notably she was nominated for a Beacon Award for her work on Nickelodeon’s teen channel The N.
